Casa strâmbă
The Casa strâmbă used to be a carpenter’s workshop, whose mighty outer walls were built in several construction phases.
During the renovation, we moved a wall by two meters and added an additional window. The former clay floorboard ceiling has given way to an open gable. We reinstalled the old, hand-cut oak beams and tried to find a symbiosis between the most original and current requirements (bathroom/toilet…).
Casa strâmbă means in German: Crooked House. We consciously decided against straightening the walls because we believe it is part of the history of this building. In order to maintain the character of the house, we did not install radiators, but rather built the heating into the wall. The radiant heat is similar to the comfort of a tiled stove.
From the natural stone terrace in front of the two houses you can reach directly into the living area of Casa strâmbă. Here you will find a couch that can be converted into a bed, a kitchen with a hob, refrigerator, sink, cupboards, etc., as well as a table and chairs for eating or sitting comfortably together.
An electrically retractable staircase leads up to the roof, where there is a sleeping area with a double bed (160×200 cm).
You can access the bathroom through the sliding door next to the stairs. There you will find a shower, a toilet and a sink.
The walls of the entire house are plastered with lime plaster and painted with organic lime paints.
The terrace is an ideal place for sun seekers or to end the day relaxing with a glass of wine, beer or lemonade.
The orchard provides shade and – depending on the season – offers organic, old fruit varieties for free consumption.
The owner speaks German, English and Romanian and lives right next door in the main house. He will be happy to answer your questions and requests.
If you wish, we can provide you with fresh food from the village every morning in the form of a breakfast package (please reserve in advance).
We are also happy to help with tour planning and leisure activities.
